Sweet Evil

Sweet Evil (The Sweet Trilogy, #1)Sweet Evil by Wendy Higgins

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Debut author Wendy Higgins has hit it big with the first book of her Sweet trilogy, Sweet Evil. If you’re a fan of Stephanie Meyer’s Twilight series, you’ll love this one. Higgins has created a hero and heroine that will give you an Edward fix with more lust and a Bella fix with more spunk.
Higgins has created a world filled with temptation. Between the mere humans and demons are the Nephilim, the children of the fallen angels. They are the worker bees; born to do their fathers’ bidding or die. But life is never that easy or simple when you consider free will. Humans have free will. Angels have free will. And maybe even Nephilim have free will.
This series is in an interesting genre. It is clearly a romance. It is also a paranormal. But underneath it all it is a Christian novel. While this is a book for your older teenager (not your tweener) as it has its fair share of underage alcohol, sex, and drugs, it also encourages abstinence and faith in God. Sweet Evil opens up the discussion that temptation is always going to exist, but it is how one responds to it that defines us. This would be a great read for a Christian youth group. I can’t wait to see where Higgins takes us next because I’m sure that there will be plenty of evil but somehow good will keep fighting.
